Rohit Sharma As Opener, Varun Chakaravarthy In Mystery Spinner's Role: India's Predicted Playing XI For 1st ODI vs England; Check Full Lineup

Rohit Sharma will lead India in the first ODI against England in Nagpur. He will open the India innings. Rohit has struggled with his batting form in the last few months in Test cricket. So, it will be interesting to see whether a change in format will change his fate or not.

 

The newly appointed vice-captain, Shubman Gill will open the India innings alongside skipper Rohit Sharma in the first ODI against England in Nagpur. 

 

Virat Kohli will return to his favorite format with the first ODI against England. As usual, Kohli will bat at No. 3 for India.

 

Shreyas Iyer will give that much-needed stability to Indian batting order at No. 4 position. Iyer’s ability to rotate the strike and accelerate as per team's requirement makes him a crucial player for India.

 

KL Rahul will be India's designated wicketkeeper-batter in the first ODI against England. Rahul, who is known for his versatility, is all set to bat at No. 5 position. 

 

Hardik Pandya will give that balance to India with his all-round skill. Pandya’s power-hitting ability and knack of breaking partnerships will be crucial for India in the first ODI against England.

 

Ravindra Jadeja gives India another all-around option. Though his performances in white-ball cricket in recent times hasn't been great, Jadeja still adds value to the team. He has tough competition from Axar Patel for a place in the team. 

 

Kuldeep Yadav will play his first international match after surgery when he takes the field in the first ODI against England. He can give India crucial wickets in the middle overs.  

 

Mohammed Shami, who played just two games in the recently concluded five-match T20I series, is likely to play in the first ODI against England in Nagpur. All eyes will be on Shami's performance in the upcoming ODI series before the much-awaited Champions Trophy.

 

Left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is all set to play in the first ODI against England in Nagpur. His ability to swing the ball and bowl in death overs add variety to India’s bowling attack.   

Varun Chakravarthy has been added to the ODI squad for the three-match series against England after his brilliant performance in the recently-concluded T20I series against England. Chakravarthy took 14 wickets in five T20Is against England  at an average of 9.86 with an economy of 7.66 and he is all set to play in the first ODI in Nagpur.

If Varun performs well in all three ODIs against England, there is a fair chance that he might just replace one of the four specialist spinners in the Champions Trophy squad.
