Born into a Kashmiri Pandit family in Jammu (Jammu and Kashmir), Samay Raina, who is now a famous stand-up comedian went to study a print engineering course at PVG's COET in Pune. After performing at multiple open mics, he was the co-winner of the second season of the stand-up comedy contest Comicstaan along with Aakash Gupta. He is also a YouTuber, and chess enthusiast.

Samay Raina has over 5.9 million followers on Instagram and 7.33 million subscribers on his YouTube channel. According to Net Worth Spot, Samay Raina's estimated net worth is around USD 16.5 million approximately Rs. 140 crore. However, it is not a verified figure and some claim it to be around a whopping Rs 195 crore.

His earnings come from YouTube ad revenue, subscribers, brand deals, and comedy shows among other sources.

In an episode of the comedy series Pretty Good Roast Show Season 1, Kusha Kapila participated in a roasting session alongside other comedians. Samay made jokes on Kusha's marriage and divorce from Zorawar. He called her a 'gold-digger' saying, 'Kusha has a female dog, who stays with her half the time, and during the other half, remains happy. Just give the dog to Zorawar. Let him have at least one b**ch in his life'. he said in Hindi. Later, Kusha reacted to the controversy in a social media post, writing, “Jokes weren’t shared beforehand (as is done in all roast formats in the West), so I had no idea what was in store for me. Maybe I should have asked for a script and known better, but since friends were involved, I didn’t. Rookie mistake. While I endured some of the really raspy jokes in front of a live audience and technicians, I absolutely was not okay with it being played for millions of people, since some jokes straight-up dehumanized me. It was shockingly unkind." 

Ranveer Allahbadia recently appeared on Samay Raina’s show. During the episode, he asked a contestant a controversial question about their parents' sexual or intimate relationship. His remarks rapidly went viral on social media with netizens criticizing him heavily.

Given the uproar, Ranveer Allahbadia has also issued a public apology, admitting that his remarks were 'not appropriate' and 'not even funny'.

After outrage on social media and political uproar, a case has been filed against Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina and Apoorva Mukhija, known as the 'Rebel Kid' on social media. The 31-year-old Podcaster Ranveer apologised for his crass remarks and the video has been taken down on YouTube, a Parliamentary panel on information technology is discussing whether to summon the podcaster, reportedly.
