Ingredients

Gather 1/4 cup rice, 1/4 cup moong dal, 1 tbsp ghee, 1/4 tsp turmeric, 1/4 tsp cumin seeds, salt to taste, and water (2 cups).

Rinse rice and dal

Rinse the rice and moong dal together under water to clean them.

Heat ghee

In a pressure cooker or pan, heat 1 tbsp ghee over medium heat.

Add cumin seeds

Once the ghee is hot, add cumin seeds and let them splutter for a few seconds.

Add rice, dal, and water

Add the rinsed rice and dal mixture to the pan, followed by 2 cups of water. Stir well.

Cook

Close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 2-3 whistles or 4-5 minutes in a pan until soft. Serve hot with pickle or yogurt. (Images: Freepik)
