Subramanian Swamy demands Bharat Ratna for Ashok Singhal

New Delhi: BJP MP Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday favoured conferring of Bharat Ratna award on former VHP leader Ashok Singhal posthumously.

In a statement, Swamy said Singhal was the architect of the Ram Janambhoomi movement and made sacrifices for social transformation.

Singhal, who had risen to prominence playing a leading role in the Ram temple issue in the late eighties, died in November last year.
