LIVE: Nifty hits record high; auto stocks gain

At 12.30 p.m., the wider 51-scrip Nifty50 of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) traded at a fresh new level of 10,164.25 points -- up 78.85 points or 0.78 per cent -- after touching a record intra-day high of 10,167.15 points.

Nifty gained as much as 0.81 percent to a record high of 10,167.15. The benchmark BSE Sensex was 0.63 percent higher at 32,474.86.

Asian shares hit decade highs as investors regained confidence after the weekend passed with no new provocation by North Korea.

Shares of consumer electronics manufacturer Dixon Technologies today made a spectacular debut on the bourses, surging over 54 per cent against the issue price of Rs 1,766.
The stock opened the day at Rs 2,725, reflecting a sharp gain of 54.30 per cent from the issue price on the BSE.

Gold prices softened by 0.40 per cent to Rs 29,736 per 10 gram in futures trading as traders trimmed their bets amid weak global cues.
At Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in October month declined by Rs 120 or 0.40 per cent to Rs 29,736 per ten gram in business turnover of 1,016 lots.

Among midcaps, Goa Carbon, Bombay Dyeing, Graphite India, HEG, Speciality Restaurants, Jubilant Foodworks, Cadila Healthcare, ICICI Prudential and TVS Electronics gained up to 10 percent.

Nifty hits an all-time high on Monday with financial and auto stocks such as Bank of Baroda Ltd and Bajaj Auto Ltd among the top gainers.

The rupee appreciated by 7 paise to 64.01 against the US dollar today on selling of the greenback by banks and exporters.

Tata Motors up 2%, Dr Reddy's slips 1%.
